I’d read that you looked at To Die For and Basic Instinct before filming Gone Girl. But ignoring those, ignoring roles that might have helped illuminate a character like Amy, was there a stage or film performance that you hold up as the model of perfection for an actress?

Faye Dunaway in Network, I think, is a brilliant, brilliant performance. What she gets to express and the way being a woman in that environment is expressed, the way she is with men, she surprises you; she confounds you in a way that I aim to do with Amy, I suppose. But I remember seeing Helena Bonham Carter in Wings of the Dove. I don’t know why that sprung into my head just then, maybe because I’m thinking about Fincher, and thinking about seeing Wings of the Dove to Fight Club, and knowing that you can just excel when someone gives you the chance, in all kinds of different ways. I’m constantly seeing female performances that inspire me. Just looking at people and wondering, “How do you do that?” I see Jennifer Lawrence in American Hustle and I just think, “How does someone at 21 or 22 have that depth and soul and freedom?” It’s amazing to me.

Brad Pitt’s zombie movie has been slated for a sequel, and apparently, “World War Z 2″ has been confirmed by Franchise Herald to be released in late 2015. Not many details about the sequel has been released, although it’s already known that it will be written by Steven Knight and would still be produced and starred by Brad Pitt as the main protagonist, Gerry Lane.

Juan Antonio Bayona, known for the 2004 drama “The Impossible”, is reported to helm thefilm. The rest of the cast is still mere speculation at this time, but there are rumors circulating around that award-winning actress, Jennifer Lawrence, will be in the film alongside Pitt, but there is no confirmation as to what her role is going to be — an alliance, a loveinterest, or something else?

The plot has not even been confirmed yet, so more news regarding the project should arise soon; however, the sequel is expected to take off after the events of the first film. An article from the Independent said, “Plot details for the next World War Z are being kept under wraps but the storyline is expected to continue from where Marc Forster’s movie left off.”

Despite a seemingly good plan for the movie, there is a probability that “World War Z 2” will not be produced by the same company as the original film. According to The Guardian, Paramount Pictures and Brad Pitt’s company, Plan B, will end their relationship after eight years of working together. His new partner is New Regency, so it is likely that the second film will be produced under its banner.

Pitt’s company said in a statement, “There are very few partners in this business who are able to balance artistic integrity with commercial viability. Working hand in hand with New Regency and RatPac, we feel we have found the perfect fit.”

“World War Z 2” is set to be released late in 2015.

Danish director Susanne Bier is behind the camera and she’s certainly earned her right to marshal a big Hollywood production with credits that include the original Brothers (remade with Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire) and her 2002 Dogme film Open Hearts. She usually handles high emotion with a light touch, and does so once again here (for the most part) against the backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina.

Mist gets in the eyes of George Pemberton (Cooper), the founder of a successful timber company who is experiencing a few financial hiccups during the Great Depression. The woman of the title (Lawrence, as Serena) instantly captures his heart and also offers him sage advice on how to run the business, immediately setting herself apart from the usual society ladies. She is a spirited gal yet there’s an air of melancholy, too, stemming from a tragedy in childhood that wiped out her family.

Lawrence conjures all of that darkness and light with a finely tuned instinct. If there is an obvious villain of the piece, it is Pemberton’s business partner (David Dencik) whose rancour at being bumped down in the hierarchy (with Pemberton favouring Serena) begins driving a wedge between the hot and heavy lovers. Fire is a recurring motif and this twosome have plenty – Bier’s camera lens all but steams up – but there is no controlling it. Jealousy rears its head in other ways, when a baby is born in town to a woman George admits to sleeping with before Serena entered his life.

Consequences of past actions drive the plot forward, testing the bond between them, but it’s a slow burn and it sometimes threatens to sputter out. Cooper brings the necessary dynamism, like a powerful wind that whips around Serena, making her stronger and weaker, inspiring fateful actions on her part. The way their energies merge, to isolate them in an increasingly hostile environment, makes for an absorbing watch, but in the latter stages, the shading of their characters becomes a little too indelicate. Particularly in Serena’s case, a kind of hysteria takes over and there are misogynistic undertones. George gets off easy in comparison.

When the writers start to cut corners like this, all the poetic flourishes – like George’s tussle with a wild cat (guess who that’s supposed to represent) – do not lend gravitas as much as drag the story down. Bier is digging hard for something deep and yet, at the point when you should be reaching for the hankie, it’s only because of so much sweaty desperation. There’s no danger this story will melt your heart. Rather, it is a tantalising, morbidly fascinating study of two hotheads in orbit around each other, headed for nuclear fusion.

How do you solve a problem like “Serena”? That, at least, is the question industry watchers have been asking about Danish helmer Susanne Bier’s mysteriously withheld American feature — which, despite wrapping in 2012 with the enticing star duo of Jennifer Lawrenceand Bradley Cooper, has sat on the shelf ever since. With the film finally out in the open, the question is no easier to answer: An arrestingly nihilistic Depression melodrama, marked by courageous performances and exquisite production values, this story of a timber-industry power couple undone by financial and personal corruption nonetheless boasts neither a narrative impetus nor a perceptible objective. The result is both problematic and fascinating, an unsympathetic spiral of human tragedy that plays a little like a hand-me-down folk ballad put to film. It’s not hard to see why a U.S. distributor has been slow to step forward.

Magnolia Pictures, sister outfit of the pic’s production company 2929, will ultimately release “Serena” Stateside in 2015, while Blighty auds will get to see it later this month, hot on the heels of its London festival premiere. (Despite that imminent date, the film was presented without opening or closing credits at the screening attended.) Marketing for the film is already positioning it as a throwback romance in the “Cold Mountain” vein, with understandably heavy emphasis on Lawrence and Cooper looking scrumptious in Signe Sejlund’s impeccable period costumes, but it won’t take long for word to spread that Bier’s film is a far pricklier property than outward appearances might suggest.

Awkward! Wendy Williams admitted on her talk show on Wednesday, Oct. 8, that she’s looked “several times” at Jennifer Lawrence‘s leaked nude images and that Lawrence shouldn’t “sweat it,” because she’s the one who took the pictures after all.

n images in an interview with Vanity Fair, telling the mag, that, in her mind, anyone who has looked at the images is “perpetuating a sexual offense” and “should cower with shame” because “it should be [her] choice” as to who sees her naked and the “fact that it is not [her] choice is absolutely disgusting.”

“Um, it’s not your choice, it’s in the Cloud and I’ve looked several times. So I guess I’m disgusting for looking?” the talk show host said. “Clap if you’ve looked at Jennifer Lawrence’s hacking pictures,” she then asked her audience, before saying, “Jennifer Lawrence, you wanna know what? Don’t sweat this, young lady. I mean, you’re the one who took the pictures.”s

Williams didn’t stop there, either. “Besides, Jen, you don’t look bad under your clothes and I think the ‘hackilation’ has actually made your career even hotter,” the 50-year-old concluded. “Cause she was red hot before but now it’s like heat-seeking missile hot. So hold your head up with pride!”
