Sigourney Weaver has warned hackers off Jennifer Lawrence. The Hunger Games actress was the victim of a nude photo leak when her iCloud account was allegedly hacked by an anonymous party. Weaver said that there is now “no escape” from social media, meaning that actors and other stars need to work out how to deal with the pressures it brings.
Speaking to The Sunday Times Style Magazine, she said: “It is something actors need to figure out how to combat, and it doesn’t serve anyone to have privacy invaded to such an extent.
“[Jennifer] is brilliant. Leave her alone.”
The Alien actress also said that she has no desire to see her idols naked, explaining that she would rather keep them on a “pedestal”. “Would I have tried to hound Steve McQueen to see nude pictures? Probably not. I wanted him on a pedestal, frankly. I didn’t want him to be like you and me,” she said. Speaking about the leak, Lawrence described the release of her nude photos as a “sex crime”. Meanwhile, Weaver is set to reprise her role as Ripley in the new Alien film, which was announced earlier this month.
